SAN BERNARDINO: California Metalfest dedicated to Mitch Lucker

(Killswitch Engage will headline California Metalfest VI on Saturday in San Bernardino)

California Metalfest VI, which comes to the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino on Saturday, Nov. 24, will be dedicating the all-day onslaught of metal to the memory of late Suicide Silence singer Mitch Lucker, who died Nov. 1 after a Halloween motorcycle accident.

The band was scheduled to perform the show before Lucker’s death. A portion of the proceeds will go to the education fund for Lucker’s daughter, Kenadee.
Headlining the festival Saturday is Killswitch Engage, which has reunited with singer Jesse Leach and will perform “Alive or Just Breathing” in its entirety. I recently interviewed Leach about rejoining the band, that album and the new material Killswitch Engage will release in 2013.
Metalfest has done a lot for Inland musicians, too. The Inland-based artists performing include Ana Kefr, At the Skylines, Bleeding Through, Sangre, Sleeping Giant and Winds of Plague.
Are you going to Metalfest? Who are you most excited to see?
Headliner: Lucker had been a main singer for the band Suicide Silence for the past 10 years

Death

Suicide Silence
Mitch Lucker, lead singer in extreme heavy metal band Suicide Silence, has died after a motorcycle crash.
The 28-year-old died after he lost control of his Harley Davidson in Huntington Beach, California and crashed into a light pole.
The crash happened on 31 October and the singer died the next day.
Police are looking into the cause of the crash and whether alcohol was a factor.
"There's no easy way to say this," the band posted on Facebook.
"Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident.
"This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts."
The Black Crown, the band's third and most recent album, reached number nine on the Billboard hard rock chart.
A candlelight vigil was held for the singer in Huntington Beach on Thursday evening [1 November].
On Twitter, the band posted: "Words cannot even describe the amount of love expressed at tonight's candlelight vigil. It was truly incredible."
